75 Years Later: Remembering the Kristallnacht Pogrom

CHHE will host a day of learning and a special evening commemoration in observance of the 75th anniversary of Kristallnacht. Join us as we unveil our recent acquisition, “Crystal Night”, a glass sculpture by the late artist, Maria Lugossy. This will mark its North American debut of this award-winning sculpture.

The keynote speaker is Dr. James Young. His most recent book is At Memory’s Edge: After-Images of the Holocaust in Contemporary Art and Architecture. He was also the guest curator of an exhibition at the Jewish Museum in New York City entitled “The Art of Memory: Holocaust Memorials in History”.

You are welcome to join us for any or all of the events. We highly recommend attending the commemoration ceremony at 5:30pm.

Day of Learning Events Include:

3:00pm Rescue in the Philippines film screening

This is a one-hour documentary of the previously untold story of how
the five Frieder brothers spearheaded a rescue to help 1,200 Jews escape
the Nazis and immigrate to the Philippines.
