Asked Questions about the Docent Training Program
Who would
be a good candidate for the Docent Training Program?
The Program is open to all individuals desiring to expand their knowledge
of the Holocaust. There is no expectation that you have previous experience
in Holocaust Education. While the majority of participants in the Docent
Training program will lead tours, it is not a requirement to participate
in the program.
What does Docent Training Involve?
The Docent Training Program meets once a week, for five consecutive weeks.
Meetings typically last two hours.
Caveat:
If you cannot attend one of the meetings, for whatever reason, we do offer
one “make up” training session.
What will
I learn in Docent Training?
In
Docent Training, you will learn about the survivors, liberators, rescuers
and refugees whose testimonies and artifacts are featured in the Mapping
Our Tears exhibit.
I am finished
training, now what?
Following
the completion of your docent training, you will observe a tour being
conducted by a trained docent. Then you will conduct your own tour, while
being observed by an experienced docent.
I’ve
completed my training, but I do not want to lead tours. How can I help?
You can promote The Center. Within your community, you can inform
other citizens about Mapping Our Tears. You can also volunteer for The

Is there a
fee for Docent Training?
No,
anyone can participate in Docent Training at no cost.
