Suggested Questions for Interviewing about the Life of a Child
What was the child's full name? Are there different spellings of this name? Did the child have nicknames?

Where was the child born? On what date?

Try to give a chronological timeline of the child's life

Did the child have special hobbies or interests? (eg: music, arts, literature, sports, etc.)

What were the child's unique dreams and aspirations? (eg: "When I grow up I want to be…")

Can you describe the child's personality traits and characteristics?

Can you describe the child's physical appearance?

What kind of relationships did the child have with his/her parents? Grandparents?

Did the child have siblings? What position was he/she in the family?

What kind of household did the child grow up in? Rural? Urban? Religious? Secular?

Who were the child's friends? What kind of relationships did he/she have?

Did the child have any pets?

Did the child have a favorite color, a favorite piece of clothing, or any other memorable "favorite" thing?

Was the child in school? What kind of student was he/she?

Did the child belong to any organizations?

Can you share favorite anecdotes and memories about the child?

 

In Collaboration with Yad Vashem in Israel
Since the 1950s, Yad Vashem has been collecting Pages of Testimony for victims of the Holocaust, and preserving them in their Hall of Names. To date, Yad Vashem has some 3 million Pages of Testimony to commemorate Holocaust victims. Their goal is to collect Pages of Testimony for all victims of the Holocaust, and create for them a symbolic memorial in the Hall of Names.
