“Tolerance is what keeps humanity together, I believe.”
—Anne Willem Meijer, Member of the Dutch Resistance
Celebrate the Cincinnati film premiere of Rescue in the Philippines: Refuge from the Holocaust. The film recounts the previously unknown and untold story of over 1,300 Jews who escaped the Nazis by immigrating to the Philippines. Their rescue was orchestrated by political, business, and military leaders: Philippine President Manuel Quezon, US High Commissioner (and former Governor of Indiana) Paul McNutt, Col. Dwight Eisenhower and the Frieder brothers – Cincinnati businessmen manufacturing cigars in pre-Manila. The riveting film shares the remarkable stories of those rescued and the remarkable story of how this intercontinental rescue happened.
