“If we do not talk about it, if we do not remember, then the world will never know. And that has made me speak about it.”
—Henry Meyer, Holocaust Survivor
CHHE, in partnership with Wise Temple, presents The Stephen and Lusia Hornstein Lecture on the Holocaust and the Human Spirit. This year’s lecture will be by Susannah Heschel, an American scholar, public intellectual and the Eli Black professor of Jewish Studies at Dartmouth College . Her scholarship focuses on Jewish-Christian relations in Germany during the 19th and 20th centuries, the history of biblical scholarship and the history of anti-Semitism. Heschel is the daughter of Abraham Joshua Heschel, a Jewish theologian, philosopher and Holocaust survivor who was active in the civil rights movement.
The Annual Hornstein program was established in memory of Drs. Stephen and Lusia Hornstein, local Holocaust survivors and doctors who served the Cincinnati community for many years.
