Cincinnati, OH- The Center for Holocaust and Humanity Education announces several monumental transformations. In March 2007, CHHE became and independent501(c)(3) non-profit organization Additionally, board president Dick Friedman, Board President shares the news of new leadership, "The recent appointments of Sarah Weiss, Lotta Stone, Un Jin Krantz and Anne Ryckbost have raised the organizational stability of CHHE to a new and important level."
This past August, Sarah L. Weiss was officially appointed CHHE's Executive Director. Throughout her tenure, she has worked diligently to develop exhibits and educational programming, formulate lasting partnerships and establish a highly respected reputation and long-lasting community presence on behalf of the organization. Weiss is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati in Business Administration and Yad Vashem's Holocaust Studies for Educators course. Most recently, she helped lead the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati's teen trip to Israel and Poland. Furthermore, Sarah brings a personal connection to her work as the granddaughter of Holocaust survivors.
New Director of Education, Lotta Stone, possesses an abundance of experience and knowledge relating to the Holocaust and tolerance education. She is currently completing her dissertation, Seeking Asylum: German Jewish Refugees in South Africa, 1933- 1945 for her PhD in Holocaust History at Clark University and holds a Master of Arts in Holocaust and Genocide Studies from West Chester University in Pennsylvania. Her expertise in education and Holocaust studies stems from 20 years of classroom instruction, study at Yad Vashem and Beit Lomahei Haghetoat in Israel and attendance and presentations at numerous international conferences.
After serving a 10-month Public Allies apprenticeship at CHHE, Un Jin Krantz has permanently joined the CHHE staff as Program and Outreach Coordinator, leading initiatives and development of upcoming programs, events, marketing and public outreach. The Center also continues its collaboration with local AmeriCorps program, Public Allies and welcomes its newest ally, Anne Ryckbost. A former educator at Villa Madonna High School in Crescent Springs, KY, she will perform as The Center's Education Coordinator. Ryckbost will be the key contact for the scheduling and oversight of the Mapping Our Tears exhibit and Speaker's Bureau program.
With a full-time staff of four and several college interns, CHHE is poised to create a lasting and meaningful impact through increased outreach and further sensitize the community to the Holocaust and its lessons. Focused on the development innovative new programming, the expansion of Mapping Our Tears and integration of additional eyewitness testimonies, enhancement of a growing Speakers Bureau program and the continuation of fruitful partnerships, CHHE will continue its mission to inform, transform and remember.
