Jacob G. Schmidlapp Bystander to Upstander Youth Leadership Day
HHC invites students in grades seven and eight to participate in a daylong workshop to gain leadership skills and empowering students to affect positive change. Students will participate in hands-on activities promoting problem solving and teamwork, while encouraging dialogue with students from across the Tri-state. Teachers also participate in sessions specially designed to help them integrate what their students gained from the experience.
Now accepting applications for the 2020 Jacob G. Schmidlapp Bystander to Upstander Youth Leadership Day.

Educators are invited to nominate up to six students who have shown an interest in leadership and a passion for making a difference at school or in their communities. Each student nominee is required to write a paragraph explaining why they want to participate and what he or she hopes to gain from Leadership Day.
Nominations should consider: Students currently enrolled in grades 7 or 8 who have exhibited an interest in leadership and a passion for making a difference. Students should display a willingness to participate in discussions and activities, interact with peers from various backgrounds and communities, and be open minded to new ideas.
Students should be prepared to write a paragraph explaining what they hope to gain from their experience at Leadership Day and agree to reflect upon their experience after the event.
