A Night of Remembrance and Forgiveness

May 4, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Holocaust survivor and forgiveness advocate, Eva Mozes Kor.

LEOK8866838In 1944, Eva and Miriam Mozes, 10 year old twins, were loaded into a cattle car and taken Auschwitz. They were separated from their family and became two of Josef Mengele’s human guinea pigs. Mengele, known as “The Angel of Death,” performed genetic experiments on the Mozes girls along with nearly 1,500 other sets of twins. When the Soviet army liberated Auschwitz in 1945, Eva and Miriam were among only 200 children found alive in the camp.

But, Eva Mozes Kor did not want mere survival to be the end of her story. In 1984, Mz. Kor created CANDLES, Children of Auschwitz Nazi Deadly Lab Experiments Survivors, to locate other surviving “Mengele Twins.” In 1995, she opened CANDLES Holocaust Museum and Education Center to celebrate the lives of the 3,000 twins who had been subjected to the deadly experiments by Mengele. Ms. Kor’s mission is to “illuminate the world with hope, healing, respect, and responsibility.”

A renowned speaker, educator, and tireless champion of human rights, Ms. Kor has been invited by City of Mason Mayor Nichols to speak at Mason High School. Tickets are available through the Jewish Discovery Center. Please join us in listening to her harrowing story and be part of the light that CANDLES and Ms. Kor is working so diligently to share.
