The Holocaust Speaker Series, hosted every Wednesday at 11 a.m., features Holocaust survivors and descendants of survivors sharing stories of life before, during, and after the Holocaust. This week’s featured speaker is Elizabeth Petuchowski.

In Germany, Elizabeth experienced Hitler coming to power, but escaped with her parents to England after the “Night of Broken Glass.” In England, she experienced World War II. She married a rabbinical student after the war and came with him to Cincinnati where he studied at the Hebrew Union College. Instead of returning to England, they stayed in Cincinnati for 60 years. Elizabeth published a book last year about her early childhood and experiences during the Holocaust called, Where From and Where To: One of the last Self-Told German Jewish Life Stories (2022).

Generously sponsored by Margaret and Michael Valentine and presented in partnership with the Harriet and Kenneth Kupferberg Holocaust Center and Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage.
