Kent Wellington, recipient of the Leo Willich Award for Perspective, was recognized for more than three decades of service to youth, families, and communities. Through the Karen Wellington Foundation, which he founded in memory of his late wife, Wellington has brought joy, hope, and meaningful experiences to families facing cancer, while inspiring others through his leadership in business and philanthropy.
Kent embodies the power of servant leadership and the profound difference one person can make through a lifetime of investing in others. Whether mentoring young people, supporting nonprofit organizations, or bringing community leaders together around a shared purpose, Kent has consistently used his time, talents, and influence to strengthen the lives of those around him. His impact is measured not only by what he has accomplished, but by the countless individuals he has inspired to serve, lead, and give back.
Nineteen years ago, following the loss of his wife Karen, Kent founded the Karen Wellington Foundation. What began as a deeply personal mission has grown into a lasting legacy, bringing joy, meaningful experiences, and moments of relief to families facing cancer. Through the foundation’s work, countless individuals have found opportunities for connection, celebration, and healing, even in the midst of life’s most difficult challenges.
In his professional role as Market Leader of Bricker Graydon Wyatt, Kent extends his influence by bringing together business and community leaders through initiatives like the Bridge Series, creating space to highlight and amplify the good happening across Cincinnati. His leadership consistently elevates others, fostering a culture where service, collaboration, and community impact are prioritized.
Kent’s dedication to service is both broad and deeply personal. He invests significant time mentoring youth, supporting nonprofit organizations, and engaging in hands-on volunteer work through programs such as Adopt a Class, CYC mentoring, and community outreach initiatives. His ability to connect people, inspire action, and lead with humility has made him a cornerstone of positive change in the region.
His extraordinary contributions have been recognized at the highest levels, including the President’s Volunteer Service Award, as well as numerous honors for leadership, advocacy, and community impact. Yet, what defines Kent most is not recognition, but his enduring commitment to bringing out the best in others.
