FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CINCINNATI, OHIO — Bakers across the United States are rallying together to fight antisemitism and support the Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center.
The brainchild of food Instagram bloggers, Whitney Fisch (@whitneyfisch), Lindsey Love (@dollyandoatmeal), and Leah Koenig (@leahkoenig), “Bake a Stand: Bake to End Antisemitism” is an international fundraiser led by professional and amateur bakers who aim to raise awareness about issues of antisemitism while raising money for the Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust and Humanity Center.
People will have the opportunity to purchase baked goods through Instagram from bakers and foodies who have signed up to participate or they can purchase items via Instagram auctions from their favorite Jewish chefs such as Adeena Sussman, Jake Cohen, Sam Adler (@frostingandfettuccine), Amy Kritzer (@whatjewwannaeat), or Danielle Oron (@iwillnoteatoysters), to name a few.
The bake sale will take place June 6 to 13. Each individual baker is responsible for determining what they’ll bake, what to charge, and how the baked goods will be delivered to your customer. After the end of the sales on Sunday, the final tally will be done to see how much was raised with bakers sharing totals as well as receipts of their donations so that participants can feel confident knowing that their funds went directly to support The Holocaust and Humanity Center.
“We are inspired by the amount of support we’ve already received bakers and influencers across the country,” said Sarah L. Weiss, chief executive officer of the Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center. “With antisemitism on the rise, our mission of ensuring the lessons of the Holocaust inspire action today has never been more important.”
Weiss said the bakers exemplify WHAT IT MEANS TO BE AN UPSTANDER — a person who uses their character strengths to impact their community and become the best of humanity today.
More than 50 bakers have already committed to raise funds for the Holocaust & Humanity Center through “Bake A Stand.”
“We are joining together to support every person that makes up this remarkably diverse community, and to affirm that antisemitism is unequivocally not okay and never justified. The Bake a Stand bake sale aims to support the Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust and Humanity Center, whose mission is to educate about the Holocaust, remember its victims, and act on its lessons,” Fisch said. “Through innovative programs and partnerships, HHC challenges injustice, inhumanity, and prejudice, and fosters understanding, inclusion, and engaged citizenship. working to fight for social justice, while promoting the notion that all people deserve to live in peace.”
More information will be POSTED ONLINE IN THE COMING DAYS.
