Standing Up Strong with Dr. Nicholette Kasman

“Look for the strengths in the people around you, look for moments where they are energized, and name it and it releases so much transformative unifying energy.”  — Dr. Nicholette Kasman

As a pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist, Dr. Kasman spends her days making life-and-death decisions in the operating room, a job she is passionate about. But she’s found that technical expertise isn’t the only thing that helps medical teams perform at their best. In this episode of Standing Up Strong, she shares with host Dr. Jillian Coppley how bringing character strengths into one of the highest-pressure environments imaginable transformed teamwork, communication, and patient care—and why those same lessons can help you show up better at work and in life.

Dr. Nicholette Kasman is a pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center who is passionate about helping people thrive—even in the most demanding environments. After earning a master’s degree in Applied Positive Psychology, she continued studying coaching and positive psychology through the Hudson Institute and Robert Biswas-Diener’s Positive Acorn Coaching Group. She is now pursuing a Ph.D. in Education and Action-Based Research Methods at the University of Cincinnati, driven by a simple belief: learning is an antidote to stress.

Dr. Jillian Coppley is a visionary executive recognized internationally for her expertise in character strengths, wellbeing, and organizational transformation. With deep experience in positive psychology, strategy, and change, she has led large-scale collaborations, built global programs, strategic partnerships, and thriving organizational cultures that empower individuals, teams and organizations to flourish. Her leadership blends strategic vision, research-based innovation, and deep personal care for others —creating environments where people and programs thrive and where meaningful, lasting impact takes root.
